Great local diner... Very reasonably priced
Food has always been great, cooked to order, & very fast. There very nice. I bring my teenage kids here every chance l get .l must sdmit, l go alone more offten than not. And the woman that does EVERYTHING has amazing tattoos. Very classic & well done. Always a pleasure. I'm going this morning!
Cute little place. I was more disappointed by the rude employees than I was the bland food. On Christmas eve I went here with family & was flabbergasted by the attitudes of the people in the kitchen. We had never been here before so we obviously didn't know where to put the numbers. The lady handing out the food yelled, "There's a basket.. if you'll read." The cooks behind her bursted out laughing afterward.I hope she wasn't that rude all year or Santa may have given her coal.
My mom and I stopped to eat here before we headed back to Houston. It is such a great little place to grab a bite. The menu is very simple but the sandwiches are big and hearty. They are also extremely nice. We were very happy we found this spot before we left town.
Ordered eggs benedict from the less-than-friendly woman at the register. Waited a LONG time and got it with a small splash of hollandaise sauce. Asked for more, and when our food was cold, I went and asked about it. She had forgotten, and handed me a small container with cold hollandaise sauce. All the while, huffing and puffing. Asked the lady at the register and she went back and popped it in the microwave and brought it back. The food wasn't bad, but the service ruined my appetite. I've always loved everywhere on the Square, but unfortunately, I wont be returning here.
Good food and the coffee is amazing! Friendly service with a smile! You guys made my morning better thanks
Great food and very low keyed. Will definitely be visiting again 💥
It was alright. Nothing too fancy. The food was good, but not deserving of 4-5 stars. It’s a nifty atmosphere and worth stopping in for.
Good food. Friendly staff. Like eating at your grandma's.
Ice cream, lemonade, sandwiches, deli menu, burgers , salads. Historic building right on the square, Good food. What more can you ask for. Seating a little crowed.
Nice place to get a quick and delicious meal. The thick slices of homemade cinnamon toast and great coffee make it worth coming here
We have eaten breakfast here for a couple years, love the food. Noticed they don't clean the place very well though. Floors are very dirty under booths and tables. If they clean up, we LL go back.
You have to try the nutshell potatoes! Hands down the best version I've had of a hashbrown casserole. The people were really nice-both the employees & the patrons! They have a breakfast buffet on the weekends....but when I go back I might just load up a whole plate of the potatos!
Interesting little diner. No bathrooms, but other than that a great experience. Food was really great and prices were incredibly CHEAP!
Great breakfast place 👍 on the square. Blue Bell ice cream cones and other home baked treats
This food is outstanding for breakfast and extremely inexpensive. I highly recommend the country breakfast for $4.75.
Very nice quaint hometown place. A unique Texas experience. Tuna Fish Sandwich like my Grandma used to make.
Great food and atmospheric. Enjoyed it.
Good food. Nice ambiance--a little rustic--but nice. Service was fast. But, the lady who took our order was...snarky and just a little bit rude. She fit the typical roadside cafe character of a cranky waitress. But the Nutshell is not a roadside cafe. It's supposed to be a quaint charming eatery. Don't get me wrong, it didn't upset me enough to leave or anything. It was just a little off putting.
Quaint little restaurant very good food didn't take us 30 minutes in and out friendly people great location on the square in Granbury
Cute restauant with a neat history. I have had both breakfast and lunch there. Lunch was by far my favorite.
One of our favorite places to eat on the historic square in Granbury, but today was an exception. I ordered the BLT sandwich and it had a fair amount of bacon but very little L or T. Pretty disappointed but all the other meals I've had there have always been very good. Very cozy place and eating there takes you back in time. Legend has it that John Wilkes Boothe once worked their as a bartender. Definitely visit if you're ever in Granbury!
Omelet was decent, didn't care for cinnamon toast, it's serve yourself basically which is fine as it's less expensive, counter person was working hard and friendly. Don't get the grits unless you like instant soupy grits but "no self respecting Southern would use instant grits"!
Nice little cafe. Clean and quaint. Wish things were more flavorful.
when we went the lady cooking burn the toast and sent out cold pancakes that were so dry and hard they were either left out all morning or they were microwaved.. when told they were cold she offered to heat them up.that was a one time stop.
Cozy nice little place to eat on historic Granbury square💪🏅🤯
Friendly little eatery with the basics. I had a sandwich which was fine. They don't have restrooms so you have to walk out to the offering lot behind and use the public facilities.
The food was ok at a fair price. But no one was wearing masks and they were not limited to 50% capacity as required by state mandate. We will not return any time soon.
Staff are grouchy. Bakery goods look dry. Breakfast was okay for breakfast. We got the buffet which turns out of served by staff. The lady second was was coughing all over our plates and the food as she was serving. Definitely will not come back.
Food was ok. Had to sit at a dirty table. They need more help. Completely under staffed. It was chaotic. Ordered our food which took forever. Shouldn't take that long for a couple burgers, soup and a sandwich. I hope they can get more organized and maybe some more workers. Nice little place, but a bit pricey for portion size and not at all efficient or friendly. No thank you, no greeting, too much time waiting.
We love to go out. Last night we came to this fine place which friends told us about. We passed a delightful experience there with great food and an experienced team and an impressive chef. We put this restaurant in our list and we will no doubt come back soon. We highly recommend.
This was the worst!! Ordered breakfast, the toast was burnt no butter. My daughter ordered pancakes & they were cold. When she told the waitress she asked if we wanted her to microwave them or put them back on the grill to warm. Never again!!
Very poor service and unfriendly. No restrooms...have to go down the block to public restrooms. Saw cook go over to buffet, reach in to pan of bacon with bare hands, slap bacon on plate and wipe hands on pants!!! Next trip to Granbury, we will eat elsewhere!!
Good food. Great atmosphere. Old town feel. The breakfast buffet is great.
Yummy food! Can't wait to go again!!
Classic little breakfast place with good food and quick service. Very well priced and consistent with their product. Always a good choice for breakfast
Good food, good price
Eggs Benedict were decent which has increased the stars I gave. The buffet is a hard pass. The eggs seemed odd and the gravy for biscuits and gravy were undercooked. I hope we just caught them on an off day.
Really good baked goods, iced tea
Love this little historic place and the food is good.
This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in a restaurant. I brought my 1 1/2 year old grandson with me for breakfast. He is a handful so I figured we’d have the buffet to get in and out quicker. It was an hour before the buffet was to close. They were out of several items on The buffet so we had to wait for things to be cooked. The biscuit and 2 sausage links were cold. I complain to the lady at the register. She says- I can tell the old lady that works here but she won’t care or do anything about it. I said- well- you think I can get my money back, she says- No- the owner doesn’t like to give money back. So I’m like- so I just paid $10 for a bottle of water, 2 sausage links, and a cold biscuit? She said there was no use in complaining as no one will do anything about it. Wow! A nice lady from the kitchen brought out some hot eggs. Never got the French Toast I asked for. What blew my mind is- no one in charge was there to even try to make things right. Worst place ever.
Probably the only thing decent about this place is the historic atmosphere and the location on the square. The burger wasn't too bad, but not really worth returning for. The other reviews certainly were on the mark about the grumpy old lady that works behind the counter and apparently hates her job -- reminded me of a female version of Jerry Lewis from when he was in his 90s and had that interview with the reporter who made him mad. Also the "bakery" items are very limited-- 3 pies, one cake and a few cookies and cinnamon rolls (even convenience stores have more bakery items to choose from). And there's no public restroom there, so definitely don't eat in if you have kids. I seriously doubt I'll be back.
Great food and reasonable prices
Great buffet and atmosphere...opens early as well!
Staff taking orders could use some people skills other than that it's worth a look
I go here about 2 or 3 times a year when in Granbury. Food has always been good with fair prices. I will agree, however, with a few others that the personel at the register could be a little more friendly.
Food was ok, nothing special. I had CFS. The sides were awesome, but the gravy and steak weren't. Didn't like the peach pie. Dad liked the ruben sandwich though.
I love this place! Great downhome cooking, rare prices. 2 people, 2 eggs, 3 lean large pieces of bacon, hash browns and toast with water, $10 and some change. Awesome. Highly recommend!
